Pursuant to the Government’s Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP on scholarship policies for learners of basic science, key engineering and strategic technologies, many of the advantages of the Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) are those eligible for this special assistance policy.

Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP is promulgated to promote development of high-quality human resources in strategic technologies, contribute to national digital transformation, digital economy development and enhancement of Vietnam’s technological competitiveness in new period.

As a national key university in technology and engineering, PTIT currently offers training in multiple disciplines in the strategic technology group and preferential policies specified in Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP for the following entities:

  1. The students are admitted to 5 talented undergraduate integrated master’s programs of the Academy, including: Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering. (Approved by MOET).
  2. Semiconductor Microchip Training Program (Approval pending approval by MOET).
  3. Learners admitted to disciplines in the discipline groups specified in Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP. Proposed majors that the Academy is providing are eligible for the following policies: (Specific lists will be updated after MOET publication):
  • Computer industry group
    • Computer science (7480101)
    • Computer network and data communications (7480102)
    • Artificial intelligence (7480107)
  • IT industry group:
    • Information technology (7480201)
    • Information Security (7480202)
  • Electrical, electronics and telecommunications engineering
    • Electronics – telecommunications (7520207)
    • Control engineering and automation (7520216)

One of the notable contents of the Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP is the policy on direct cash scholarships for learners in strategic technology disciplines. This is seen as a breakthrough in the Government’s policy on development of high-tech human resources to attract good learners to pursue key technical and technological branches.

According to regulations, university-level students studying majors on the priority list may enjoy scholarships of the VND 3.7 million to VND 5 million per month level, depending on the major group and training program. For master’s degree students, the scholarship levels range from VND 5.5 million to VND 7.4 million per month In particular, for doctoral-level postgraduate students, the highest scholarship shall be up to VND 8.4 million per month for talent programs, semiconductor microchip programs, and some fundamental sciences and strategic technologies.

This scholarship policy not only contributes to reducing financial pressure on learners but also creates an incentive to attract talented students, trainees and doctoral students to pursue spearhead technological fields that Vietnam is prioritizing in the period of digital transformation and global technological competition.

The fact that many training disciplines of PTIT are eligible for the scholarship policy under Decree 179 further confirms the Academy’s position in training high-tech human resources and opens more opportunities for study, research and career development for students in the digital era.
