On December 3,2025, at the Hanoi campus, Prof. TS. Xu Mingfang, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Academy Council, chaired the reception and worked with Professor Leslie Gabriel Valiant, the world’s leading computer scientist and winner of the Turing Award (the Nobel Prize in Informatics), an Emeritus Professor at Harvard University. The event takes place within the VinFuture Discovery Talk Series, a high – level scientific exchange that provides a rare opportunity for PTIT to learn from global great minds.

The reception was attended by the Academy’s leadership and the AI faculty, who were important “connectors” to the professor. Valiant took a deeper approach to the innovative journey at PTIT.

The content of the exchange ranged around the hottest topics:

  • The Chairman of the Council presents the overview: The training scale is large, the system of modern faculties and institutes, especially the strategy for development of artificial intelligence (AI) human resources, which is the key area to help PTIT lead the technological trend in Vietnam.
  • AI Department representative shared the reality: The technological development landscape in Vietnam with the challenges such as approaching advanced computing distributed technology, and questioned and discussed the modern educational methods in the AI era – from machine learning to deep learning.
  • Prof. Valiant appreciates: Praising the spirit of continuous learning, the quickness of Vietnamese lecturers and students. He noted PTIT’s pioneering effort in AI development despite facing computational capacity limitations compared to the world, and shared experiences from Harvard on building sustainable research platforms.

The work session is not only a meeting but also a powerful inspiration, which stimulates the creative drive of the PTIT community towards creating knowledge and breakthrough innovation in AI. Prof. Valiant expressed his deep appreciation for the Academy’s enthusiasm, and wished the Academy success on its long journey to the apex of artificial intelligence.

The event confirmed PTIT’s position as a leading AI center in Vietnam, where young talent converges with an international vision. As AI changes the world, PTIT is committed to investing heavily in training and research — from advanced AI undergraduate programs to labs that study practical applications such as AI in telecommunications and cybersecurity. These exchanges are the “fuel” for PTIT to not only catch up but also lead the AI revolution in Vietnam and the region.
