The crypto asset market is opening up a host of new positions such as technology law, on – chain data analytics, or Web3 project management — careers that never existed 10 years ago.
Figures from the Crypto Times indicate that in 2024, Tether, the world’s largest stablecoin issuer, recorded a net profit of $ 13 billion with just 70 employees, or about $ 185 million in profit per person per year. Each Tether employee generates a profit value about 400 times higher than Apple employees ($ 0.57 million per person per year); about 10,000 folds the average income of major bankers in Vietnam (around VND480 million per year ), according to the company’s website.
According to experts, Tether’s numbers reflect the productivity that blockchain technology and crypto assets bring. It’s also an assertion that in the digital age, the value of the profession depends not only on the size of the organization, but also on the ability to master technology and data.
BLOCKCHAIN IS THE ORGANIZATION BUT IT IS APPLICABLE TO ASSESS TRANSFER OF THOUGHTS
Talking at the seminar “Crypto assets and legal pictures: New directions for Foreign Trade students,” organized by the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association (VBA) and the ABAII Institute of Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence in coordination with the Law Department of the Foreign Trade University on November 5, Associate Professor and Associate Professor Vu Thi Hien, vice-chancellor of the University of Foreign Trade, said that blockchain and crypto assets are gradually becoming the new operating platform of the global economy.
“A clear understanding of the nature, mechanism, and legal framework of crypto assets will help students position their roles in the future economy – where technology, law, and finance intersect more strongly than ever,” said Vu Thi Hien, Ph.D.
Le Vu Huong Quynh, APAC Regional Development Director, Tether, said the crypto asset market is now seen as a new pillar of the global financial system.
Discussion session with the theme “Professional Opportunities for Foreign Trade Students in the Era of Blockchain and Encoded Assets”
“When a field is new, it means there are a lot of opportunities open to those at the forefront, especially young people like you,” said Le Vu Huong Quynh.
In particular, Tether’s representative emphasized that in the blockchain field, legal is a key pillar that determines the sustainability and scalability of businesses. There are three legal “noses” that any blockchain company should focus on, she said.
Number one. is Paralegal – the corporate legal support department, in charge of drafting and reviewing contracts, preparing legal documents, and supporting the listing of crypto assets. This is a good position for law students who are thoughtful and have good English.
Second And that’s the Regulatory & Licensing, regulatory and licensing legal — very new and undermanned. The department works with regulators in many countries, ensuring that businesses adhere to local legal frameworks, and assists in obtaining licenses to operate in financial centers such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, or the US.
Tuesday is the compliance with the law, ensuring that all activities, products and transactions of the enterprise are in accordance with regulations, especially in the issues such as data protection, anti-money laundering and financial transparency. This is considered a foundation for businesses to maintain credibility and develop sustainably in a globalized environment.
According to Le Vu Huong Quynh, blockchain is an opportunity but also a test for the initiative of the young generation. Tether’s operating model best illustrates that the value of a business does not come from the number of employees, but from the ability to master technology. With a solid academic background and a sense of vision, Vietnamese students can compete on the global playing field.
She emphasized that if they learn, participate in training programs, blockchain research communities, or simply read documents and update the international news, in just 1 – 2 years, students can become extremely valuable human resources in the field.
TECHNOLOGY AND LEGAL INTELLECTORS WILL BE CONSTITUED FORCES IN THE EXPERIMENTAL FOUND
In the same view, Pham Gia Khanh, Director of Technology, CTCP Nippy Labs, remarked that the crypto asset market is in need of multi-skilled people: understanding the product, understanding the users, and firmly grasping legal risks. “Humanity that has all three of those factors will become the most sought after human resource,” Khanh said.
According to experts, when finance is “put on” the blockchain comes a whole new set of financial products and forms — innovations that are unprecedented in traditional systems. But precisely because it is new, existing laws sometimes do not keep up. Current regulations cover only tangible assets or traditional transactions, while digital assets, tokens, NFTs, and blockchain derivatives do not have a specific legal framework.
This is both a challenge and an opportunity. The challenge is that businesses must ensure that their operations comply with existing regulations; the opportunity is that people who understand technology and law — like students today — will become a highly sought – after force in the future, especially as Vietnam begins to perfect its legal framework for digital property.
Sharing the side of the event, Dr. Ha Cong Anh Bao, Dean of the Law Department at the Foreign Trade University, said the University has been building many training programs associated with the digitalization trend. Of the 13 new undergraduate programs that are about to be announced, most have content related to digital economy and technology. Particularly for the Law, the school has opened the Economics Law major with an intensive program on the Economic Law and Digital Business.
“The special point of this program is an interdisciplinary and multi-sectoral approach, combining the three pillars: economics – technology – law. Students are not only educated in legal matters but also equipped with background knowledge on blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies. During the development of the program, the school invited experts from the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association to contribute, ensuring the training content closely follows market realities and international legal trends, “Dr. Ha Cong Anh Bao said.
CODE ASSET MARKET OPENING GOODS OF NEW JOB POSITION
According to Dr. Ha Cong Anh Bao, Vietnam’s human resources in the field of digital assets and blockchain are at an early stage, but the potential for development is huge. “Vietnamese youth have the ability to access technology quickly, flexibly and creatively. In the last few years, the trend in learning and work has been moving towards disciplines related to data analytics, artificial intelligence and blockchain. As the legal corridor is gradually perfected, this will be a strong driver of training, development, and employment in the field, “he said.
“It is expected that over the next two to three years, Vietnam’s human resources for the digital asset industry will grow rapidly, especially as the State is stepping up its policy of attracting foreign experts, technology transfers, and international cooperation. This will contribute to the formation of a high-quality human resource ecosystem, meeting the development needs of the domestic and regional digital asset markets. “
According to Nghiem Minh Hoang, Fintech Application Specialist, Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association; Strategy Associate, 1Matrix Company, when the legal framework is finalized, the opportunity will be opened not only to technology engineers, but also to legal experts, data analysts, business consultants.
“This is a period that Foreign Trade students can embrace to promote their role as a bridge between technology and policy, between innovation and compliance,” Hoang said.
He argues that the rapid growth of the crypto asset market is demanding high – quality, legal and international – thinking human resources and opening up a variety of new positions such as technology law, on – chain data analytics, and Web 3 project management — jobs that didn’t exist 10 years ago.
According to TS. Le Linh Luong, Deputy Director of the ABAII Institute, the goal of the series of AB AII Unitour is not only to bring knowledge about blockchain and AI but also to help connect students with businesses, giving them opportunities to learn about technology and expand future employment opportunities.
“We don’t want blockchain or crypto assets to be just theoretical concepts. The ABAII Unitour program is designed to help students touch real technology, understand how it works, understand opportunity and risk. That’s the foundation that will help you stay on track in the labor market, “said TS. Le Linh Luong said.
