The Information Security Team of the Posts and Telecommunications Technology Academy is an environment that brings together students with high professional competence in the field of cybersecurity. With a real-life training orientation, the team not only participates in CTF competitions but also actively studies, detects and handles security vulnerabilities in practice.

Among them were the students. Nguyen Van Long

  • Layer: D23CTAT01-B
  • Position: Vice-captain of PTIT Information Security Team

During his studies, competition and training, Long has achieved many impressive achievements, such as:

First prize at the 2025 Cybersecurity Student Competition

Thầy và trò đội tuyển sinh viên PTIT đã đạt giải Nhất tại cuộc thi Sinh viên An toàn thông tin 2025

PTIT team teacher and student won first prize at the 2025 Information Security Student Competition (Nguyen Van Long finished 4th from left)

MTUCI ATK & DEF CTF International Champions

Thầy và trò đội tuyển ATTT.PTIT tại M*CTF

2025 PTIT CTF First Prize

And other outstanding achievements.

Not only did Dragon excel in his competition, he also showed outstanding research ability when successfully detected and reported two security vulnerabilities, is officially recognised on the international CVE system:

  • CVE-2026-35478
  • CVE-2026-35477

The fact that a student is enrolled on the CVE system is not merely an academic achievement, but also an international recognition of the capacity for security research. In order for a vulnerability to be granted a CVE code, the discoverer needs to go through a rigorous process, including technical analysis, proof of exploitability, responsible disclosure coordination with stakeholders, and validation by the organizations that manage the vulnerability.

This requires the researcher to not only master the background knowledge of systems, networks, and applications, but also to have a deep analytical mindset, an attacker – oriented approach to the problem, along with a high level of practical skill. Nguyen Van Long’s discovery of two vulnerabilities noted on the CVE indicates his competence in the field of information security.

This achievement is not only an important milestone in Nguyen Van Long’s personal development, but also reflects the effectiveness of the training model associated with practice at the PTIT information security team. The ability of students to participate directly in the discovery and publication of security vulnerabilities on a global scale suggests that the learning environment is not just about theory or competition, but also about creating practical values that contribute to the cybersecurity community.

This is also a clear demonstration of the quality of intensive training, combat orientation and the investment of the Department of Information Security of PTIT in developing high quality human resources for the cybersecurity field.
