VNNIC (Vietnam Internet Network Information Center) is an affiliate of the Ministry of Information and Communications, which manages and coordinates national Internet resources in Vietnam. It is one of the most important infrastructure organizations of Internet Vietnam, responsible for ensuring the stable, safe operation and sustainable development of the domestic Internet ecosystem.
VNNIC’s core functions include managing and allocating Internet resources such as “.vn” country code domain names, IP addresses and autonomous system numbers (ASNs). Besides this, VNNIC operates a national DNS system, ensuring domain name resolution to occur quickly, accurately, and safely. This is especially important for all Internet activities, from website access, email to other digital services.
In the field of information security, VNNIC has deployed many solutions to improve the security level for the national Internet infrastructure. One of the prominent activities was to promote the implementation of DNSSEC (DNS Security Extensions) to protect the domain name system from rogue attacks. In addition, VNNIC also participated in monitoring and early warning of cybersecurity risks and cooperated with authorities in handling incidents related to Internet infrastructure.
Besides its role of technical management, VNNIC is also actively involved in promoting Internet development in Vietnam through research programs, international cooperation and human resource training. This unit regularly cooperates with international organizations such as ICANN, APNIC, etc. to update technology trends and improve the capacity of Internet resource management.
In the context of national digital transformation, VNNIC plays a fundamental role in ensuring the stable, safe and scalable operation of Vietnam Internet. Not only a regulatory agency, VNNIC is also an important factor contributing to building a reliable Internet environment, serving the development of digital economy and digital society in Vietnam.
